Course Description
In Human A & P we will cover all of the major systems of the human body. The start of the year will cover the basics of what anatomy and physiology is and how they will be applied throughout the course. This class requires a lot of memorization such as Latin terms and the meanings of them, all of the bones of the body and the different parts, and all of the different muscles, along with various other systems. Various dissections such as a sheep heart, brain and kidney, cow eye, and cat will be a part of the class.

Course Objectives
 Students will know the difference between anatomy and physiology.
 Students will know various Latin words and the meanings.
 Students will know anatomical terminology and be able to apply it throughout the course.
 Students will know various bones and muscles of the body and how they work together.
 Students will know the function and different parts of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, integumentary, nervous, endocrine, immune, lymphatic, reproductive, and urinary systems.
 Students will be able to apply what they have learned during the class to the dissection of the cat.

Grading Policy
I grade on a point scale, therefore everything you complete will go toward you total points. Tests or large projects are worth more points than a homework worksheet but it is important to complete all activities and worksheets. Homework needs to be completed on time. One day late will be 75%, two days late will be 50%, and after that it will be a zero. If you are absent you are responsible to get the work you missed. You will have the number of days you were absent to complete the absent homework, if not turned in during that time frame the same late work percentages will apply. If you are absent and will not have my class on the next day due to block you are still required to come and see me either during passing periods or before or after school. It will be considered late if you wait till class time. Example: you are absent on Tuesday but don’t have my class till Thursday, you need to see me on Wednesday to get your homework so that you are caught up for class on Thursday. If you wait till Thursday, in this example, you will automatically have your work marked one day late.

Classroom Rules / Expectations
 Students will respect themselves and others.
 Students need to be in the room and in their seat when the bell rings. Otherwise you will be considered tardy.
 Students need to bring all materials to class. Students will not be allowed to go to their lockers to retrieve materials.
 Students are to be working on the assigned work or participating in the lecture. No talking is allowed during test or quizzes.
 Students will be working in groups at times, however everyone must contribute equally. Students will be graded individually and as a group.
 Students need to bring laptops to class daily. Failure to do so will result in the students missing a great deal of information.
